Plant Turnaround Services

Introduction

As part of our Reliability Based Mechanical Integrity Program, OGM/Capstone offers a number of turnaround-related services to refineries and petrochemical plants.

Key Benefits

Details

A Turnaround Readiness Audit can be conducted at the site prior to the turnaround to assure that the plant is properly prepared. The audit is based on the Capstone Model of Best Practices, and will cover maintenance activities, capital project work, planning, organization, materials handling, QA / QC, safety, and environmental. The audit will provide the results of the assessment and concrete recommendations.

Equipment Criticality Rating is a measure of how important an equipment item is to the operation of the plant. Using risk and reliability methods to determine a Criticality Rating facilitates the development of an optimum turnaround work scope of equipment items such as pressure vessels, heat exchanger bundles, relief devices, and instrument systems that may require maintenance, testing or inspection efforts during a shutdown.

Inspection planning uses the Criticality Rating, the identified damage mechanisms, and Capstone's Inspection Planning Strategies to decide which equipment items may need to be opened during the turnaround. The planning will determine whether intrusive or non-intrusive inspections can be used.

Turnaround Job Packages can be developed for the turnaround that will improve the quality, efficiency, and manageability of the work. Packages are typically developed for each turnaround equipment item and might include such documents as a detailed job plan, procedures or checksheets for the work to be performed, previous inspection or testing reports, drawings, and equipment data sheets.

Capstone's Inspection Service Group can provide inspectors certified to API 510, 570 and 653 to perform and oversee the turnaround inspection work. NDE inspectors qualified to ASNT-SNT-TC 1A can also be provided. Capstone prides itself on providing the most knowledgeable and efficient inspection personnel in the industry.

Remaining Life and Fitness for Service evaluations of damaged equipment can be performed prior to or during the turnaround using industry guidelines such as PD 6493, API 530, and API 579. Deficiencies found during the turnaround can be quickly evaluated, recommendations provided, and repair procedures developed to minimize their impact.
